According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a clemency request for review by the Trump administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the judicial oversight panel announced that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the clemency petition. Additionally, they mentioned she has been receiving special treatment at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the House judiciary committee, declared in a official statement that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the “commutation application” remain unknown, Raskin added.

Alleged Privileges and Custom Arrangements

The representative claims that, per the insider, Maxwell has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the supervisor has individually organized exclusive visits for Maxwell and her guests.

The visits allegedly include a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which Raskin described as an exceptional measure given the potential danger and chance of unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when communications failed for other prisoners, Maxwell was provided directions about instructing her contacts to call and how staff would connect the communication to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers “quickly”, she “essentially used” the official as her “personal secretary and administrative assistant”.

The statement states that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the warden, who would provide them to the inmate, for her to examine and change and provide them back to the warden to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Further perks reportedly provided to Maxwell include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

Through a spokesperson, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has considered,” the spokesperson noted.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that she told close associates in electronic messages that she was more content at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

In August, Maxwell was transferred from a secure facility in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most detainees are incarcerated for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also previously served as Donald Trump's private attorney.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid intense speculation around Trump's own personal ties to the fallen billionaire and convicted sex offender, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Congressional Response

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to the President, demanding answers about the whistleblower’s allegations, and called on the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this adjudicated and remorseless criminal,” Raskin wrote in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with canine interaction, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche appear for a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also posed three questions to Trump.

Raskin asked whether Trump had discussed a potential commutation for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had directed him or anyone else to provide her with the transfer or special conditions in detention, and whether she, her lawyers, family or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by the specified date.

In October, the nation's highest court declined to hear an appeal from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
